Matrixdock launches XAUm gold token on Arc with USDC redemption

Matrixdock says XAUm is live on Arc, where eligible holders can access USDC redemption proceeds the same day after submitting required transaction evidence.

Matrixdock announced on Sept. 23 that its gold token XAUm is live on Arc, Circle’s EVM-compatible layer 1, adding the network’s first tokenized gold asset, according to the issuer. Matrixdock says eligible holders can access USDC redemption proceeds the same day after submitting required transaction evidence. The announcement does not specify a minimum redemption amount, eligibility criteria or processing cutoff.

What does each XAUm token represent?

Each XAUm represents one troy ounce of 99.99% purity gold, Matrixdock says. The issuer says the metal comes from LBMA Good Delivery refineries and is held in allocated form in vaults operated by Brink’s and Malca-Amit in Hong Kong and Singapore. Matrixdock describes its reserve-verification methods as token-to-bar allocation records, monthly reserve statements, onchain proof of reserves and independent physical audits by Bureau Veritas. These are issuer descriptions; the launch announcement does not include the underlying reserve records or audit reports.

The Arc deployment changes where XAUm can circulate. It does not, according to Matrixdock, change the physical asset’s custody, sale or settlement mechanics. The same-day feature concerns access to USDC proceeds for eligible redemptions, rather than same-day physical delivery of gold.

How does the same-day USDC route work?

Matrixdock says holders can access USDC proceeds on the day they submit the required transaction evidence, subject to its terms and requirements. The announcement does not detail the evidence, the sale process, fees, or how the issuer determines eligibility. It therefore describes a conditional redemption route, not an unconditional onchain conversion feature.

Matrixdock contrasts this route with London’s conventional T+2 settlement for unallocated gold, which it describes as a bullion-bank claim settled by book entry. That comparison does not mean XAUm itself settles physical gold on the same day: the company says its underlying custody, sale and settlement mechanics remain unchanged.

Where can XAUm trade on Arc?

Matrixdock says XAUm/USDC liquidity is available through Uniswap on Arc, allowing onchain exchange between the gold token and USDC. The announcement gives no pool address, liquidity amount or trading-volume data. It also says Matrixdock and third-party developers will explore lending and collateral applications; specific integrations are to be announced by their providers if they become available.

The distinction is material: the launch establishes issuance on another network, a stated redemption route and a trading venue. Broader collateral use remains prospective in the announcement. Matrixdock’s launch notice identifies no deployed lending integration on Arc.
